The Dragons Den initiative was overall awarded £10,000 and has successfully helped to start up three new businesses. Diane Stubbs, a beautician, received £3,000 to start a beauty salon; Tips to Toes. Diane started her business venture in January of this year and in her first week made a net profit of £360. Diane has been a stay at home mother for the last 8 years and now runs a full time business thanks to the Ashfield Fair Share Trust. Her salon is almost fully booked on a weekly basis and she has created a lot of media attention. She is also looking at employing new members of staff in the coming months. The Salon has a popular facebook page and Diane is now looking at developing a website.
