About
The Streetlife Fair Share Trust project supports young people aged 16-25 who are homeless or at risk of homelessness by giving them the opportunity to develop accredited life skills which then in turn enables them to take responsibility for managing their own lives, achieve recognised outcomes and live independently.
Young people are given the opportunity through the project to experience a variety of new things including sporting activities, art genres and other cultures and these are delivered through a weekly art group, sports and life skills session, and an award group.
Young people are consulted regularly to establish what activities they would like to participate in and are given the chance to plan, organise and deliver sessions. Sometimes the people involved in planning and organising a session may to apply for funding from the local Youth Opportunity Fund and the project worker supports them with this.
The overall aim of the project is to engage with young people who may not have achieved at school or have fallen through the net, to enable them to achieve accredited outcomes including Youth Achievement awards, Asdan Awards, the Art Award and AQAs which are nationally recognised. Alongside these accredited outcomes, young people also benefit from ‘soft’ outcomes such as increased confidence and self-esteem, interpersonal skills, teamwork skills and peer-learning.
