About

Ms P is one of the youth trainees for the above project. She has been placed in the Communities First Office, which covers the areas of Abertillery and Cwmtillery. She is continuing to work well in her placement and has been involved in a variety of activities and projects.

Ms P is currently supporting the Tools for Ur Future project (another project which is run by the organisation TAFY and currently being funded through this Fair Share Trust programme) and she is mentoring and supporting the boys involved whilst they consider their future plans.

Throughout February half term Ms P arranged a week of activities which included litter picks, a nature walk, treasure hunt, free running event, cinema trip and an intergenerational project.

Ms P has recently set up a youth club but is struggling to encourage young people to attend, as a result she has arranged a meeting to look at alternative approaches to engage with local young people. Ms P supported the team to deliver a ‘Kick Butts Day’ in partnership with the British Heart Foundation Smoke Prevention Manager. The event was run at a local Comprehensive School which included young people printing t-shirts with logo’s regarding smoking and over 300 t-shirts were sold promoting smoking awareness. DP was also successful in securing £3,500 through the Phoenix fund to deliver an urban art project to raise awareness around domestic abuse.
