About

When the local authority condemned their old headquarters, the Ellesmere Port Sea Cadets were forced to find new premises. The Cadets managed to find an old school building which was perfect for their new headquarters, but needed help to fund interior furnishings and equipment to house their band equipment and trophies, and to bring the building up to standard.

With the help of funding from the North West Development Agency and the Fair Share Trust, they were able to move to the former Mansfield School and bring the building up to current Health and Safety Standards. Fair Share Trust money has also been used to purchase a fireproof security cabinet, fire resistant curtains and blinds, and chairs and table to meet the current requirements.

The move to the new premises has doubled the number of Cadets and volunteers.  The Cadets help young people to learn new and important skills.  The Cadets are seen regularly at events in Ellesmere Port, either playing in their band or helping other groups run their activities, and they have equipped their new headquarters so that other community and voluntary groups can use the premises as well.
