Amount Awarded: £50,242

About

‘A’ lacks confidence and joined a confidence building course at the Women’s Centre.  She informed the Life-skills Coordinator that the tutor on the mentoring course felt that she is capable of undertaking a level 3 mentoring qualification which in turn further increased her confidence.  ‘A’ was keen to join the Level 1 BTEC in personal and social development delivered by the Life-skills Coordinator.

She has attended each week and has informed the Life-skills Coordinator that she feels nervous every time that she attends and doesn’t feel clever enough.  The course enables students to focus on their strengths and set short and long term goals for themselves. She is also succeeding in her coursework and gaining positive feedback she has also got to know the other course members.  She is now feeling more comfortable and developing more confidence and belief in her academic abilities.  ‘A’ has now decided to pursue the level 3 mentoring course and begin volunteering while also undertaking a part time bar work job.
