About

As part of our ongoing learning and information gathering to support the Fair Share evaluation, we have recently attended a number of Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) courses by Nurture Development. In its very simplest form, this is a different strength based approach when working with local communities, rather than purely focusing on need and deprivation.

The ABCD approach is wholly relevant to working in Fair Share Trust ward areas due to the local community aspect rather than the Programme being borough wide.

We wish to adopt this principal for our end of programme evaluation. Although completely relevant and required in some spheres, we feel that the traditional report based evaluation with graphs and statistics such as indices of multiple deprivation has already been done. BIG Lottery have conducted their own evaluation which includes all of this information and we would not want to duplicate this.

Therefore, for our local evaluation, we plan to create a book- The Story of Fair Share. This will heavily focus on telling the story of the Fair Share Trust supported projects in each of our 5 areas specifically through community consultation and case studies. This, more than anything will be a marketing tool for the projects to demonstrate the impact of their work and show the strengths in their community, future aspirations and how their sustainability work is aiming towards these aspirations.

Further updates will be provided as the story is put together. The first stage will be community consultations.
