Limavady Phase 1

Although this project has been successfully concluded it has been selected as a case study to show the remarkable achievement of Ageing Well Roe Valley in coordinating the delivery of a set of programmes by 5 different organisations in the ward.

£15,000 over one year

About

The level of coordination and joined up working that this has entailed needs to be highlighted - not only in coordinating activities but also in working collaboratively to complete returns and to enable proper financial accountability and grant drawdown. For organisations to do this on a shoe string budget was no mean achievement. The final monitoring report from the group notes: “Five groups agreed to work collaboratively for the benefit of senior citizens in Coolessan Ward, Limavady. From the outset all groups fully undertook their responsibility and the three major outputs: 1) Identify and train volunteers; 2) Encourage activities, outings and group interaction, and 3) Target older males and carers, have been achieved. The project exceeded all expectations in terms of uptake of every event, training and social opportunity that was arranged. The community was well informed of what and how the funding was to be used and each partner used the money to ensure the needs of senior citizens were met. The monitoring report concluded with a word of thanks to the Fair Share Trust for the funding from ‘MM’ "On behalf of … myself and the others involved may I say we thoroughly enjoyed the project and the partnerships which Fair Share brought about are still thriving doing other things."
