What does ‘building capacity’ mean?

Access to funding was the key driver for establishing the Fair Share Trust, and FST areas are those that have been identified as having limited capacity or infrastructure to bid for funding.

Sustainability of funding is important, but the Fair Share Trust also recognises the need to ensure that the outcomes of the programme are sustained over time.

By funding the development of skills, structures and support networks within local communities, it is hoped that ongoing external support will become less necessary and that local people will be confident in their own abilities to address their own needs.
