What is different about the FST?

Posted on Wed 18 June 2008

There are a number of aspects of the Fair Share Trust that makes it different from other funding programmes:

  1. The FST is a 10-year investment in the area, which allows for long term planning.
  2. Grants are strategic and all work together to agreed aims and goals. Grants do not need to seek “quick wins”.
  3. The FST focuses on specific neighbourhoods, which means the impact can be greater than other programmes.
  4. Local residents, people working within agencies in the area and other stakeholders set the local priorities and advise on grant awards. Local knowledge and involvement ensures that communities have a sense of ownership of the programme and that the funded activities and projects are relevant to the area.
  5. The FST is a flexible programme, funding a variety of activities and projects - with an emphasis on building the capacity, skills and support networks in local neighbourhoods - tailored to match local needs.
