What kinds of things can be funded?

Grants can be made to almost any kind of organisation, as long as the work undertaken is not primarily for private gain or individual benefit.

Grants must address the three wider aims of the programme - to build capacity, increase social capital and improve ‘liveability’ - and must also meet the local priorities set by the Local Panel.

Funded projects or activities must also be part of a long-term strategy for the area, complementing any existing development programmes or funding streams, and leading to a sustainable impact. Partnership working is a key element of the FST programme and is encouraged.

The focus of the programme is medium and longer term revenue projects, not short-term one-off projects. Capital projects should only be considered in exceptional circumstances. Projects can be solicited or commissioned by the Local Agent or developed as a partnership bid, but the programme is generally not intended to be an open grants programme.
