Ashfield FST Community Champion visits Prime Minister

Sarah Thorpe the Ashfield Fair Share Trust Community Champion has been involved in the development of Social Enterprise in the area and as part of this she has been involved in a residential with 150 other social entrepreneurs. During this course Sarah was involved in a project judged in a ‘Dragons Den’ competion and by other  course members to be the best project. As a result of this she was invited along with other team members to attend a reception hosted by the Prime Minister at 10 Downing Street on 20 November to celebrate Social Enterprise in the Third Sector. Speaking at the event Gordon Brown said:

“I want to congratulate today’s winners on their achievements, along with all the pioneering new leaders, innovators and entrepreneurs who are the future of our third sector. Charities, community groups, social enterprises and NGOs are all playing a vital role in getting the country through the downturn. I am confident that they will play an even more central role as we build Britain’s future.”
