We all know people who do more than their fair share for charity, but who do you think does so much that they could be called National Charity Champion?
In this country we celebrate achievement in all kinds of fields, from soap stars to footballers, but giving has traditionally been something that we have kept quiet about. We want to change this. If you know a charity hero, they and their chosen charity could be in line to win £30,000. The Awards are organized by The Beacon Fellowship Charitable Trust – a body that encourages people to give time, money or skills to charitable causes. The influential charity is urging people to nominate individuals who are real charitable superstars.
The Awards, which have been described by Prime Minister Gordon Brown as “the Nobel Prize of the charity world,” recognise extraordinary achievements in the world of charity. With awards in seven categories and an additional overall prize, the winners will be invited to attend a gala event in London where they will receive the recognition they deserve for the good work they do.
Last year we received countless stories of extraordinary individuals from the UK area who have worked to make a difference both locally and on a global scale. We hope that once again this year’s nominations will highlight the work of many more unnamed heroes who have given so much in the name of charity.
So can someone you know be the UK Charity champion? Only if you tell us about them!
