Localism Bill
Posted on Tue 04 January 2011
In mid-December, the Localism Bill was introduced to Parliament. In essence, the Bill is about the government's plan to shift power from central government back into the hands of individuals, communities and councils. These changes will represent both risks and opportunities for organisations working in FST areas, and it will be worth interacting with the changes that are proposed, to ensure that you and your funded groups are equipped to deal with the new shift in local government and the delivery of services.
For example, see this Third Sector article which explores the opportunities for community groups to challenge local councils over public service delivery.
