Partnership building is potentially very useful. However, this is often easier said than done. It is important to think outside the box and find ways to work with different alliances. A mutual individual, such as a community development worker, could be a very good start.
Summary
Priority: Improving the lives of young people (0-25) and promoting community and voluntary activity.
About
The Local Agent wanted to broaden people's views of the Fair Share Trust programme, so that people think of it as more than just the projects that are directly funded. They want to be seen to be adding value to what is already happening in the area and, if possible, facilitating new opportunities.
They have therefore started attending other partnership meetings e.g. the North Hull Alliance, which is a collaboration of VCS groups which come together to share information and look at new opportunities. However, it is quite apparent that while they do meet together, they are still very territorial about their funding and funding opportunities and, as such, not much partnership working is happening at all.
While they do not want to replace what is already there or come across as "we know best" they are looking at ways in which they can bypass this local "politicing" as an honest broker and hope the introduction of a Fair Share Trust worker can act as a catalyst to some genuine partnership working.
