Lesson learned in brief: panels need to be persistant and delivery partners need to be fully aware that Fair Share funding is not guaranteed.

About

The Fair Share panel made a joint decision earlier in the year to withhold the final payment of the grant to CVA Blyth Valley for its Community Engagement Worker. This is due to concerns raised by the Community Foundation over underspend and poor reporting. The CVA received its last payment in October 2010, with £38,000 outstanding. It spent the balance by September 2011, but has been asked by the panel to submit a revised grant application form in order to extend the project until December 2012. This is in the process of being assessed and will be presented to the panel at the December 2011 meeting. The lesson learnt is that panels need to be persistent and delivery partners need to be fully aware that Fair Share funding is not guaranteed. This should lead to a more productive final year of the project with panel members more aware and concerned about project progress and spend.
