Posted on Thu 01 December 2011

Birmingham and Black Country Community Foundation have commissioned the development of a local Community Centre based Jamia Mosque, on the Alumwell Estate, Walsall

To kick start this work, Wider Impact Consultancy have delivered a series of focus groups with members of the mosque to establish the needs within the community, map community asset and explore the potential of the centre. In addition is a competition to find a new name for the centre - Jamia Enterprise centre

Wider Impact Director, Edwin Lewis says, ‘Our role is to support the Mosque deliver their objectives. Methodology is including consultation such as Workshops with all members of the Mosque, which is including Committee members, female and younger members of the Mosque. We are also consulting wider community members, and key stakeholders, such as the Police, Youth Services, schools and other Churches in the area. Outcomes will include significant funding applications, and ultimately, a Community Centre fit for the whole Alumwell community to enjoy and benefit from.’
