Working in partnership to support vulnerable residents in Kingshurst at Christmas time

Kingshurst Development Trust (KDT) joined with local agencies to deliver a Christmas Community Event for vulnerable and isolated residents on Tuesday 13th December, 2011. Residents were invited to a free mince pies, tea and coffee and the opportunity sample some good Caribbean food, hmmmm!!!.

In addition, residents were offered:

  • Free Health advice and freebies from Solihull Health Trainers
  • Blood Pressure Checks and Health MOT from a local District Nurse
  • Recreational games and activities provided by Age Uk
  • Funding advice surgeries for the local Fair Share Trust Community Chest
  • Free energy saving light bulbs

Kingshurst Development Trust is a voluntary organisation registered as a Company Limited by Guarantee. Reg. No 07667439.  It was established August 2010 and has a 7 management committee members, of which 2 members have been nominated and elected as local councillors. There is a general membership of 85 with a number of volunteers on a regular basis and one paid Consultant (part time), Madge Milligan-Green, funded through Fair Share Trust and sessional staff for other activities.

Pastor Albert Watson, Chair of KDT says ‘ Our mission is ‘here to serve’, we want to do just that but more importantly we want to work in collaboration with other service providers and the community to ensure we provide what is needed.’
