September Panel Meeting

At the Panel Meetingo n 22nd September, the Panel were joined by Kevin Ashby, the Policy Advisor at BIG Lottery.

They discussed the LEGI initiative called E-Factor.  Local Agent to invite the Director of E-Factor to the meeting in March to provide an update and consider furture joint working initiatives.

Local Agent now receives a copy of the monthly reports from CDW to VANEL.  Panel Membership was discussed.  Pat Wilks, the Chair of West Marsh Forward was welcomed.  She had been brough up to speed with the current position.  The Chair of East Marsh Involve will be at the next meeting.  He had a prior engagement and could not attend this meeting.  NB had also found a young person to become a panel member.  He is at College.  Consideration would be given to having Panel Meetings later in the day so that he could attend.  He would invovled in the youth project being run by CPO Media.

Declarations of interest were made.  The Panel agreed to the proposal that a youth project be funded.  This would allow young people to produce a brochure and web based promotional space on the East Meets West Websit to promote projects funded by the Fair Share Trust Youth Grant.  It could be launched during the forthcoming Community Engagement Week. 

The Panel received an update from the Community Development Workers.

Sustainability:  VANEL will prepare a paper for consideration (with the CDWs) for the next meeting about continuation of the projects.

Congratulations were offered to Harbour Place who won the recent National BIG Lottery Award for Best Community Project.  Formal congratulations to be sent on behalf of the Panel.  They also feature on the cover of this edition of East Meets West.  Harbour Place had also secured Comic Relief Funding for 2 years to continue their volunteer project.

Local Agent told Panel about the Sustainability Plan to be prepared by 21st December.  This would be circulated after the meeting for input from Panel Members and funded projects.

Kevin Ashby confirmed the meeting had been useful and was pleased to see joing working.  Panel Members confirmed if future funding was available, it would be allocated and monitored using the Fair Share Model.
